Poison - Talk Dirty To Me

This day and age, any time the word hair band is mentioned, inevitably, Poison comes to mind. And, in this video for their first top ten hit Talk Dirty To Me, it's easy to see why. Check out their hair. C.C.'s hair at one point has to be six inches high. Poison received and still receives a lot of flack about their music, but the reality is they were one of a select few hair bands who scored a #1 hit (Every Rose Has It's Thorn) on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. Hit it C.C....

Ozzy Osbourne Turns 60 Today

Ozzy Osbourne was born on December 3, 1948 in Aston, Birmingham, UK. He is known by many as the "Godfather of Heavy Metal" and by others as "The Prince of Darkness". While Ozzy's not normally associated with hair bands, like a lot of other heavy metal bands, he had his share of hair band songs and videos in the late 80's.

In 1986, Ozzy released his album Ultimate Sin, which is considered to be his contribution to the glam rock movement of the late 80's. While a lot of hardcore Ozzy fans don't like this album, it actually spawned one of Ozzy's most successful songs on the U.S. charts.

Shot in the Dark was the first single released from the Ultimate Sin album, and it peaked at #68 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts and #10 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock charts. Only Ozzy's 1992 rock ballad Mama, I'm Coming Home, charted higher (#28) on the Hot 100 charts.

In honor of Ozzy's birthday, here's a look at the music video for Shot in the Dark.

Twisted Sister - We're Not Gonna Take It

Twisted Sister's We're Not Gonna Take was released as a single in the summer of 1984. I was only 13 years old, and I remember listening to this song as well as the other songs on the record (yes, record as in vinyl album...) over and over again. Dee Snider has said, that of all things, this song was influenced by the Christmas Carol, O Come All Ye Faithful.

We're Not Gonna Take It actually made it to #21 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, making it Twisted Sister's only top 40 hit of their career. VH1 ranked it #47 on their list of the 100 Greatest Songs of the 80's, and it's our first featured video.
